Dental implants are titanium screw shaped posts that are placed into the jaw bone to replace a missing tooth. This screw shaped post (implant) will need to be restored with a crown (tooth shaped restoration) or attached to a denture, in order to serve it’s purpose. In order to be a candidate for a dental implant, a patient must have enough bone, and good quality bone to house a dental implant. To determine this, here at Jazzi Cosmetic surgery we supplement clinical exam with X-rays and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in order to diagnose bone. Implants can be placed under local anesthesia (previously referred to as Novacaine), Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or IV sedation (moderate to deep sleep sedation).
